HA3 - Task 7 - Review

Evaluation...
I found this topic a challenge in which was fun to participate in. I enjoyed creating my character (John Jones) and creating a background. Also, I found it thrilling as I could make up our own story line to our own game ideas. However the hardest thing to do was the character development considering it took the most time and I had to go through many different stages such as taking pictures of my self in different poses and then turning it into a vector graphic. Furthermore, I found the background part of this topic one of the easiest as I could make it look rigid and destroyed as the scenery was a New York alley way. This meant that I didn't have to give it a neater look as my character. Overall this topic was challenging but yet again this comfortably helped me to improve my skills when working on illustrator and Photoshop. All I need to now in the future is present it on blogger. Then my work shall be complete until I wait for improvements from an adviser( If there is any that need completing)

HA3 - Task 6 - Presentation

Textures Exercise

For this task, me and a small group walked around the college taking pictures of different textures from wood to carpet to brick e.c.t. I found that it was hard to focus the camera from different lengths, but as I continued I grew better. Hopefully these could be used in the future during the creation of a game.

HA3 - Task 5 - Production

I decided to draw up some sketches of what I would like my character to wear e.g. John's outfitter. Also, I decided to draw a pose for John in which would be used on the front cover. I am happy with the outcome of my sketches and the pose for John Jones.

Before I began starting my actual character. I decided to get an image of a Walking Dead character and re create it in illustrator. Here is the experimental work in which I did on illustrator. This really helped as it increased my skills on illustrator so that my actual character would be easier to do.

This is where I then stopped re creating  the image of the Walking Dead character as I needed to begin starting my actual character (John Jones)

Firstly, I got a friend to take pictures of me in different posses. here are the 3 posses I chose.

I decided to choose poss 3 as my whole body was visible and I though it was the best one. This was the pose from my sketches. After I had chosen, I decided to start removing the background on Photoshop.

Then I placed the photo on illustrator and got to work. through these images you will see my steps of the creation of my character John Jones.

 

Here is the finished piece. I am happy with this as the items e.g. cloths and accessories i said I would imply have been portrayed e.g. the black cotton shirt.

Now I had to re create a background using illustrator and Photoshop. Here is the creation of the recreated background.

Firstly, I decided to put the image on Photoshop and use the magic wand and adjustment tool to turn the sky a grey color instead of a white and blue color. This will give the image a more thriller like atmosphere.

Then I placed the image on to illustrator and started getting to work on my background. However, I changed some features in of the image e.g. added blood on the floor and got rid of the people in the alleyway.

From this point on I decided to make the alleyway look scrappy e.g. broken bricks on the floor and crooked structures on the buildings. I did this as in real life alleyways especially in New York are not crystal clear; In fact they are poor looking and dull due to bigger buildings surrounding the alley's.

Then I added my character (John Jones) to the background and then added some more effects to the background. I placed my character in to a position into which is visible than the other positions I came across. Here is the finished piece.

Overall I was very impressed with the final look and so I decided to use these pieces as my final background and my final character outlook.

HA3 - Task 4 - Planning

Every week I returned back to this, to basically indicate which pieces I was finished on. I found this really helpful as it kept me on track and up to date as I progressed. As you see I changed the bars as time went on until I had finished. As you can  see I started my review early e.g. before my presenting. I found this easier as I could mention how participating in this task was like and what I had done throughout.

HA3 - Task 3 - Character Profile

Main Character is named John Jones. He is a Soldier in the Navy Seals and has a wife named Amanda and a Son named Jamie. He joined the Navy Seals at the age of 19, and lived in the city of Compton when he was a boy. As a teenager he was a hunter. It was here when he first learned how to use a gun and track animals. He also learnt how to kill animals with melee weapons such as a combat knife. He then moved to the outskirts of New York City and Married Amanda at the age of 27 and they had a their boy Jamie at the Age of 30. His Mum, Dad and Brother moved to Britain when he joined the Navy Seals; but John refused to move. John is tough and a hero as he was given numerous medals in the Army for saving lives and bravery. In addition he is fit e.g. he has great strength and has great stamina from his army training. John has amazing accuracy with fire arms and has learnt special melee attacks in The Navy Seals. sometimes, he has a very respectful personality e.g. he calls woman "ma'm" and men "buddy". He also is a man of words e.g. he is great at negotiation but that soon fades during the apocalypse. His nose looks broke considering it has been in the past and he also looks hardened from the apocalypse. Here is a brief example of what he will look like e.g. the style of clothing.

But first, I tested my skills through illustrator, working on a character from the walking dead, and changing his arms and cartooning the image. From this, I have decided that the same outfit from this piece of work will be added on my actual character e.g. the shirt and pants.

This is Johns outfitter for the game. I chose these for many different reasons and my reasons are on paper with the sketches. The reasons and sketches will be show on the task 5 post.

HA3 - Task 2 - Game Genre and Synopsis

John Jones works for the Navy Seals and has now came home to enjoy his 3 month break with his wife Amanda and his Son Jamie. Little does he know that the biggest war of all was just about to begin. Strange stories appear on the news about Rabies genetically mutating. Soon people start coming back from the dead, biting and infecting the living and eating the living. The news tells people to head into the city as the National Guard are taking in living people in order to protect them. The last words from the News is "ATTACK THE BRAIN!........................." John and his family, must now battle his way into the city to find rescue and a safe Haven. Will the undead kill John?, Will John be able to keep his wife and son safe?. Have the National guard fallen?. What does this new world have to offer?
